The Mayor's Safe Yield Committee if focusing on a public education campaign to encourage water conservation and hopes the public will learn more by attending the committee's next meeting Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Chino Valley Council Chambers South Campus, 202 N. Highway 89.

First Territorial Capital Days continue this weekend, starting Thursday with a movie and dinner in Memory Park, then on Saturday, equine events and demonstrations at Yavapai College and the FFA Corn Dinner at Del Rio Elementary, and on Sunday a horse show also at the college.

Chino Valley residents turn in petitions to overturn RV park
Residents here filed petitions Tuesday morning to try to overturn Town Council approval of a recreational vehicle park.

Candy Blakeslee said she counted 446 signatures in the petitions that she submitted to Town Clerk Jami Lewis, way above the 188 minimum to qualify a referendum for the town-wide ballot.

Five defendants in shooting confirmed to have ties to Hells Angels motorcycle gang
The five men who remain in jail in connection with this past Saturday's shooting between the Hells Angels and Vagos motorcycle gangs in an unincorporated area northwest of Chino Valley are affiliated with the Hells Angels, said Deputy Scott Reed, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

John Anthony Bernard, 44, of Phoenix; Kiley Steven Hill, 39, of Camp Verde; Robert Edward Kittredge, 36, of Prescott Valley; Bruce Andrew Schweigert Sr., 46, of Cornville; and Larry Dean Scott Jr., 47, of Chino Valley are each being held on a $75,000 bond.
